K Dramas

I finished watching Dream High & My Princess.
I like Dream High so much more. Kinda gave up on My Princess halfway through only to decide to finish it since I don't have anything better to watch anyways while waiting for Dream High to release.

I love happy endings, non-happy endings are sinful ok, whoever directs them. But the thing about pleasing audiences like me is that, endings are so predictable. That's why Dream High is nice, haha, not with a twist, but play around with the audiences' assumptions. =)

What's next?

Planning to pick up Korean lessons again, financial concern, time constraint, and laziness.

Lie & Rot

Of the many articles that I've read from the past year papers, I love this one, makes perfectly good sense, and have sense.

It goes something like this:
"Even when we're moving, we use our brain. When we read the newspapers or book, listen to the MP3, consersing on the phone or playing games. From morning till night we use our brain, putting rest at the back of our brains (means not resting), neglecting our health and therefore it deteriorates. Compared to exercising, people nowadays need rest more. when we're on the go, sit instead of stand, and if possible lay your legs out straight and rest while not thinking about anything and just lie comfortably, that's the best thing you can do. This position lets the heart and body relax, it allows the body to recharge its energy and strengthen the immune."

That is so true. Occasionally I'd do that, lie down on the floor arms and legs stretched straight out, not thinking not functioning except just breathing and living.
It's very therapeutic for me, never knew people actually encourage it. Guess I don't need no exercise, just need to 'lie down and rot' as I would say it. I guess I have some wisdom in my unconscious too. LOL

Calling you

I just realized this morning, what SeoInKook was actually singing to me every morning to wake me up. LOL, the lyrics were hilariously appropriate.
Below is the lyrics from the internet. Bold ones are the ones that I could understand, and I'll try to translate to you what it means.

Ok. Imagine a pig sleeping. Sun shining through the windows. And the phone alarm rings. And the singer goes:
어떤날은 너의 뒤로
무거운 그림자 위로
마지막 니 이름을 불러 I call your name for the last time

I don't cry even if I'm sad tak boleh bangun so sad!
I keep on (continue) calling your name

That name becoming a song
Until my voice is gone
I call your song (name) That sad name still tak boleh bangun!
Sadder than tears, louder than shouting
I call your name, that sad name masih tak mahu bangun

So sad right to be SeoInKook? That's a really nice song by the way. LOL. I get him to wake me up every morning, and he sings in so much pain and sadness. And I keep shutting him off and make him sing again 9 minutes later (snooze function). Poor guy. Who said it's fun to be a singer?

So after that, I made it to Korean class. Haven't showered since morning, I felt I was stinking like a sweaty guy who have just ran 30km.

Half asleep, teacher called my name out of a sudden to translate a sentence. Bleh. I wasn't listening at all. LOL I took a quick glance at the super long sentence, and started saying out loud what the sentence means. I totally mixed up all the particles, made up my own story, and well, pretty got a good scolding from the teacher.

It went on for a few times... but thank goodness I regained consciousness for the remaining last hour. @@

o.O

Is it just me, or cars’ headlights are getting so bright they’re distracting if not disabling safe driving? These days driving in the dark is kinda uncomfortable and scary. The cars’ lights or my eye?

-----

When people know that I know Korean, they are very much likely to get me to speak a few sentences. I don’t know, if they are really curious how ‘Korean’ my accent can be, or that they doubt that I might be cheating.. Not like they can understand anyways, if I really do cheat.

Over the years, half of it, Korean-Chinese, filled with dust dirt, food crumbs and finger prints.
While the other half, Chinese-Korean, rarely touched. Well it should be glad that I use it when I need to produce sentences right from my head, not circle from multiple choices. =)

Germs and Bacterias

Down with flu again. The runny nose....blerh, don't like it.

Last night the air conditioner was down, and the room was so stuffy and hot and killing me so I decided to open the windows and sleep. I was so tired, but the windows were gates to heaven for mosquitoes. One moment I was sweating under my blanket trying to shield myself from more bites, the other moment pulling all the blanket and pillows away to give my sweat glands some fresh air to breathe. Crazy night.

Then today at Korean class, in the past year paper a question went:
A: What happened to your hand? Did a mosquito bite you?
B: (___) when I slept. so the mosquito bit me.
Answer: I left the door open

Ish, what coincidence!

=)

Hua Jang Shil Kal Lae?

Lao Shi kept asking HanJun if he wanted to go toilet, in Korean. =D

Learning Korean

Today I asked HyeonWoo to teach me Korean. He's the Korean boy btw.
He pointed at the picture of the rice, and told me that it is his favorite food.
This is actually his first time striking a conversation with me. I've actually hesitated a long while to try speaking Korean with him, after all my job is to speak only English to the kids.

Anyways. I quickly answered him, "Rice? It's called 'bap' in Korean right?"
He nodded.
"Can you teach me Korean HyeonWoo?"
He looked kind of hesitant and confused.
"How do you say hello in Korean?"
"An-nyeong?"
He was as blur as ever.
"How do you say apple in Korean?"
"I don't know."
"What about orange?"
"I don't know. My mother haven't teach me everything."
"Oh, ok. How do you say goodbye?"
He was thinking hard.
"An-nyeong?"
"Ya."

I think I stressed him out quite a bit so I stopped asking. Plus Haddie was interrupting big time trying to get me help her color. It's funny how he speaks Korean but when asked of names of random objects he can't recall. =)

Done with Drama

I started watching this Taiwanese Drama下一站,幸福, last weekend. Got totally hooked on it, but since time was limited, and I couldn't afford to sleep late on weekdays, I finally finished it today.

It's really nice. Very dramatic, in a way that there is a lot of stories, not boring and slow or draggy. Unlike typical Taiwanese dramas this is not of overacting, extreme facial expressions. LOL

Anyways, never knew I would be so hooked, sleeping at 11 or 12 on nights before work (I have to get up at 6am). I slept at 1.30am last night, only to be in Korean class today half asleep. Plus I couldn't concentrate in my work because I was 2 episodes left till finale and all I could think of was how the court case would end instead of my KLPT past year paper. I left at 11.58am, 2 minutes even before the class was supposed to be over, instead of staying back for at least 15 minutes like I usually do.

Anyways. I'm glad I'm done with it. Gone crazy about it, and now the end of craze. I like movies better. LOL

It's a small world after all

It seems google has made the world so small. LOL
I was liasing with this lady from school regarding a summer program. She suggested that I go meet her tomorrow, so I went googling her up and check out how she looks, just in case I miss her out.

Then. OMG Got picture. So canggih can die.
The lady in the picture looked familiar. Ended up she was the lady in my Korean class some time ago. Hmm let's see if she remembers me.

Answer to be revealed tomorrow.

My Korean Lessons

My teacher took one semester to teach me level 1: alphabets, basic sentence structures, particles etc.

I took 1 semester to teach...
nothing.

My students can't even recognize all the alphabets yet, let alone read.
I think the only sentence they know by heart is "I love you".
That's what everyone knows even without having to learn from me. Gah.

Aim high

it seems that teacher has high hopes on me.
Maybe she hasn't noticed that all my work are below 70marks.

anyways I was kind of surprised to learn that NO Malaysian has passed the KLPT Intermediate Level. One did last term, earning only 56 points on average, meaning the student only got Level 3, not even 60 to reach level 4, basically meaning failing the test.

Hmm... How hard can it be? Super.
Teacher told us that even students in UKM and USM who majors in the Korean Language does not attend the test itself. And they are people who have 3 hours of mandatory classes each week for the language.
It takes 2 years of 2 classes per week to prepare from beginner to intermediate, but counting from where I started from beginner to the exam in September, I'm having only 1 year of 1-2 classes per fortnight.
Almost one quarter of the needed time to do it.

And there teacher goes hoping I can get 80. Ha. I know I'm quite smart, but I'm no genius boo.

"Oh my god Oh my soul"

Watching Korean idols speak English was really something. Made my night totally awesome full with held-back-laughter.

Nickhun: What are you planning to do tomorrow?
Tomorrow

"Do you wanna die?"

"Natural"

"What do you like to do?"
"I collect cars. "
"Really?!"
"I do it every day."
"You collect cars every day?"
"Because it's fun so I love it"

JoKwon: "Of course britney spears christina aguilera JYP 2am 2pm wonder girls and @#&#$& oh jay what the fuck @#&$&* ok i'm fine thank you"
"Mariah Carey Micheal Jackson JYP I'm fine thank you!"
He just loves JYP doesn' t he?

"JYP rare, medium or well done?"
"Just because I love you, marry me"

Ok I know I'm not making sense here popping out random sentences, hello you should watch the videos, just go youtube kpop idol speaking english, there's a series of it. Get prepared to laugh your butt off.
One day I'm gonna bring my laptop to school and show everyone the videos LOL!

And I'm gonna tag this post under "Learning Korean" just because! there's no learning English from Koreans tag.

Reciprocity

Not so long ago I began teaching basic Korean to people. 3 to be exact.
Maybe it was me who was too selfish or had too much expectations in the first place.
When people don't make it, when they're late, when they don't study for it, I become disappointed.

I tell myself that I should not expect too much as this is their part time's part time study. They have better and more important things to do than to revise the materials, or come on time, it's fortunate that they choose to show up at all.

Then it hit me that hey, I'm not obligated to do this. I promised to teach, but not be disappointed in so many ways. I promised I'll teach, but I never said anything about contacting everyone and make sure they come and show up. It's already so kind enough of me to take the effort to prepare the notes, go to school on days without classes and teach. I don't receive a cent, all I wanted was some sharing and contentment since they're so eager to learn.

I thought I'd be appreciated. Maybe I am, but I certainly am not feeling that way. These days I even feel that the class isn't of any importance to some of them. Of course I do not expect them to put the lessons on the first place, but at the least it deserve some respect and is not some kind of hobby when you can do it whenever you want and not do it whenever you don't want to, or at least be so courteous to inform me at least a day or two in advance if you can make it or not.

Maybe it's just me, taking it all too seriously. Maybe I was too greedy in the first place to expect some thing called interest and some commitment.

'왜'는지 아세요?

받드시 철학을 전공하는 사람니 아니라고 해도 사람들은 왜 사느냐는 물음을 자신에게 수없이 던지면서 하루하루를 살아간다. '왜?' 하는 물음이 우리에게 없었다면 우리가 다른 동물과 다를 것이 무엇이 있겠는가? 먹고 마시고, 때로는 좋아하고 싸우고 장난치면서 이 날 이 시간까지 똑같은 삶을 되풀이했을 것이다.

Without Subtitles

I was watching this halfway through when I realized there was no subtitle. For a moment I was so proud of my improvement in the language, but then I realized like 90% of the conversation is done in English, or broken english, wth.

Now everyone can understand Korean!
