Tan

Tan is an English word, not the surname.
The picture above shows my legs cropped from the picture below.
I'm gonna go back a brownie. =)
Chocolate Fudge anyone?

Ranndom Photos

It's been hectic lately.
Good on the paycheck wise, bad on the energy wise.
But oh well, paycheck being paycheck, I'm saving hard to make sure that I will have enough to travel by the end of the working end of the working season. =)

Here are some random updates from week 1 till now, which is already week 4.
Believe it or not, we've been here for almost a month!

#1:Just to let someone know that I've finally worn the socks. LOL

#2:This is a stromboli. Supposedly Italian food.
Yum yum~ a meal which was so big we bought the leftovers back for dinner and breakfast. hehe
#3: Just a random photo that we took from Camp Snoopy, one of the four areas with kiddie rides in the park.

#4: This is our uniform.
First impression? Kindergarten uniforms. But our supervisor loved it, saying it looks professional *roll eyes*. But I've grown to love it a little bit more, all thanks to this place which doesn't provide much mirror so I can't see myself so often. LOL
And this is the jacket that we put on when the weather is cold or starts to rain a little.

#5:
My very personal take-alongs.
They're containers which I drawn on. =)

Me Love Ice-cream.
I had this Hagen Daaz Rum raisin for only 2.50 bucks! Finished it in just 3 days. *slurp*
Just got the time to go to the mart yesterday and got myself one more tub of peppermint&chocolate-chips.
yummiest-est!

This is taken in the 2nd week when we had our training (that's why we had casual clothes on). We were waiting for the bus but it was so cold we had to hide behind the admission counter. LOL.
Thank goodness the weather these days are more tolerable, but it's been raining cats and dogs for the last 2 days and it's horrible cuz we have no people going on the rides when the rain is heavy.... =(

Some days ago we managed to get time to cook some porridge. Rice, potato, carrots and eggs without anything else, of course it tastes kind of bland, but I loved it.

This is instant waffle. *Slurp*
Peanut butter and jam is still the yummiest!

This is Mantis, one of the 17 roller coasters in the park. Never ridden it, yet.
This is Millenium Force, heard it's good, but never had time for it too. =)
Cedar Point, America's Roller Coast, is a wonderful place. Seeing all the roller coaster tracks is simply amazing. One day before the end of the season I'm gonna ride them all!

The morning we're on our way to Niagara Falls, having McD for breakfast. Do you know that their breakfast menu has more choices than the normal times'?

Below are still pictures from Niagara Falls.
And this is the superyummilicious bacon cheeseburger that I had for dinner in Niagara Falls. *gulp*

Niagara Falls

Do you know that Niagara Falls is the name of the place but not the name of the waterfalls?
It's called the American Falls (if not mistaken).
Anyways, we've been there!!!!

OMG The falls are so so so amazing.
We went on this trip called "Cave of the winds" and got really really close to the fall, and it's cold and wet and scary but all together: Awesomely fun! It's better than any roller coasters that I've been on (please note the fact that I've only been on 'a lot' of roller coasters).

Then we went on the boat ride which brought us to the Horseshoe Fall, which is the largest fall on the American side. It's amazing, being surrounded by falling water and seeing seagulls flying all over.....

More photos up in facebook later (a lot later than this, which means if i have the time and internet connection. LOL)

update from the dead meat

the park opened today.
super tired, dont feel like bloggin
just want to let you know that im not dead yet

next few days will be same as the past few=very hectic

you guys enjoy your classes and work
so will i,
lovin the kids!

왜?
왜 그래?
아니...
기분이 안 좋아.

아이스그림을 안 먹으면 어떻게?
I just realized,
that American dollars are so much longer than Malaysian Ringgit.
LOL, they cannot fit into my wallet.
(-.-lll)

----- -----

It's the start of Mother's day here
while it's almost ending at the other side of the world.
I bet mom's at the funeral still.
Happy Mom's day, Mum.

----- -----

Cheerios is pretty much tasteless,
which is a good thing
cuz I'm sick of everything tasting too salty or sweet over here.

Shopping

We've got our weekends off up till Tuesday!
Hooray~~
Today we went shoppin' at W- Mart, and it's awesome~
The amount of things we bought... shopaholics!

Now we (Lizzy & I) have 3 drawers full of food supplies
we have some more in the fridge. Waffles, sausages, ham, milk etc.
The food stuff are so cheap ok. We have instant meals at about 1 buck each, and this cereal is twice the size of what we have back in Malaysia but it's only 3bucks!

And we bought a rice cooker, and some other daily necessities such as containers cutlery etc. See my new bowl & cup! =) Matching colors eh...
And I got 2 watches! LOL
Arent they just pretty? I bet mom's gonna faint after seeing me buying more watches. =P
This is our very first meal (instant rice) cooked using our brand-new rice cooker and bowl and spoon! LOL.
See Siew Ooi washing her new cutlery and notice the brand new rice cooker in the backgound. I know, what's so exciting about mundane household tools right? LOL.
You'll know when you do your very own household equipment shopping. =)
YUM!

Ms Kim!!?!

Cafeteria's pizza is yummilicious!
But the coleslaw.... erm... *force laugh*

Neways
I think I've amazingly get used to the place so much already.
The first 2 days were really awkward, like I'm walking into the TV, but now, it feels like I've been here since forever. LOL.
Now that I'm sleeping, eating, pooping and almost everything in routine, it feels as if I'm home. =)

About the swine flu thingy, you lot really don't have to worry too much cuz everyone here is walking around freely, unlike the people in Narita airport, mostly masked up like they're gonna die after breathing in unfiltered air.
And we've gotten used to the weather too. Lips don't dry up as much, and is used to the breeze (chilly wind) and don't wake up jumping in coldness anymore. The very gradually warmer weather is helping too. =)

At work,
James found Ms Kim eating sand in the sand pit today.
Frankly I find Ms Kim kind of creepy,
but it's hilarious that James is still playing with dolls at his age. LOL

Death

Mum mailed me
sending the news of aunt's death.
Frankly it's a shock.
didn't allow myself to grieve too much over it as work starts in an hour.
Of course there is sadness,
I'm glad we visited their house right before I came,
We know well that crying over it wouldn't undo anything,
but we just need to grieve over it.

Liz says I don't look too sad about it.
I told her it's repression,
for I understand well how my defense mechanism works whenever things occur.

not good at sending condolences,
but just so you know,
though we've never been close,
we're a family and you can count on us.
Hope all is fine, be strong.

Lovin' the new green

It rained yesterday so I reckoned it would be hot today, but NO~~~ Lizzy checked the weather forecast and the temperature is lower than the days before. Gosh.
When we walked to the bus the whole place was misty. *cry*
Good thing that it didn’t rain too much later in the afternoon, and haha the weather forecast wasn’t that accurate after all.

Got our uniforms today. (Will show you another day when I get the chance to wear it) =D
Would have been dishonest if I say it doesn’t look like kindergarten uniforms.
And it’s shorts instead of long pants like other positions….. Freeze? *shrug*

Did I mention that the day is so much longer than the night?
It’s already very bright when we wake up at about 7am, and it only gets dark after 8pm. Well, I guess it’s a good thing, haha, the zeitgeber to keep us wide awake. XPThere is this white flower petals all over the place, which is a real pain to sweep but really pretty when you don’t have to sweep it. =)
I love the green of the new leaves, you’ll never see it in Malaysia.

Siew Ooi had her first day of work today. LOL It isn’t officially work yet, cleaning poops that what she did. Muahaha, it totally drained all her energy, she’s like sleep walking right now eating her instant noodles.

Oh, we found the hot water source today. LOL After so many days complaining that there’s no hot water in this place, Lizzy saw it near the office, the place we always go. *roll eyes*
Well, getting hot water means that we can have instant noodles even if the ovens are broken today. =)We’re pretty thrifty, stingy, whatever you call it these days. Money is hard earned, LOL. And we haven’t got our first paycheck yet, so yea. We’ve been eating real cheap since we’re here. LOL such is me?

We’ve got to know this happy bunch of people from Thailand, though they don’t speak much English, they’re really talkative! Ha~ This girl even claim that she knows mandarin and sang “Tian Mi Mi”! LOL I surely know who I’ll think of whenever I hear that song.
Absolutely adorable~

A few nights ago we had McD, which is just within walking distance.
All this, for 7 bucks. Isn’t it cheap or what?Well, I think we're used to the shrinked portion back home, 3 people couldn't finish it, I ended up eating it for dinner the next day. *yum*

Raining Training Day

Here's how the new room looks like. I'm sleeping on the upper bunk while Lizzy is on the single bed. We'll wait and welcome a new roommate to the lower bunk when she comes. =)

The view from the new room is so much better than the old one.
Here's a view from the old room.
And here's the one from the new one.
Don't you think that the old one looks like prison? The other girls just refused to agree with me that it looks like prison. It's like we've gone into Prison Break season 1 or something. LOL Kooi Bee must be thrilled about going into the movie set.
The new view is so much better and with the larger windows there's actually more light coming in the day time and it's superb.
The nuisance is that people walk about at night and the walls are thin. Don't ever tell secrets behind my wall because I can hear everything you say. *roll eyes*

Anyways~
I've arranged my stuff into the drawer.
Now I have 1 drawer of energy supply, with food and love letters and well, source of happy things. And Siew Ooi must have been tired bringing all our stuff here, including the notebook and the supply of medicines. LOL. They're just lovely, thanks girls!
Today we had training, on all those tedious stuff.
So now I have like 5 or 6 text books to go through.
Sigh, and I thought work means no more books. =(

It rained today, and a huge part of the training couldn't be done.
Gosh it sure is cold. And I've learned that because we're here next to the shallow lake, temperature changes real quickly and by real quickly I mean dropping like 20 degrees in an hour. *gasp*

I still can't believe it that some years ago I was watching this show on TV telling about the greatest roller coasters in the United States and hoping that I can ride them someday, knowing well that it's near impossible, but now I am realizing a dream!
Welcome to the world's most exciting, great themepark!
Have a cedar fantastic day!

Mindset?

There are times I cannot understand why people do certain things
I guess those times will always exist no matter how old I have lived or how much of psychology I have known.

Priorities are different
that's what I know.
That's why people can do such absurd decisions
and mess up their lives
and feel ok about it.

Mess up your own
and don't involve others.
That's all I'm going to say.
It's not an advise, it's a warning.

We're imported bird-poop remover

The theme park is not open yet.
So for the mean time us jobless ride hosts gets to earn some living by cleaning the rides. This is how we looked, all pumped up before going to work.
Of course we were excited, at least we're not bumming around sleeping like what SweeMun did the day before. LOL.
But since Marylee & SweeMun doesn't have training or work they went to the mart to get some stuff. Well there's another story for another time. Will elaborate more when I have the time to go buy them myself. =)

It's the closest that I've ever been to any ride, like real close.
Cleaning isn't exactly wiping off dusts but cleaning bird poop.
There are a lot of birds here, seagulls, the black bird, etc. And they poop every day.

Gosh, the rides were full of bird poops and it took so much time to clean one poop and imagine a whole ride is covered with poop everywhere.

And I got an hour break from the bird poops for lunch.
managed to eat with SMun, Marylee & Lizzy. Too tired for lunch though I was hungry.
Bird poop was all I could think of.
Pathetic I know, but we were already thinking of having our first day-off to go to the mart!

Micheal, the supervisor ( I think) came to check how we did and asked me, "How are you? How do you like it?"
And I replied, "Great!"
when I said to myself inside, "Who the crazy butt likes bird poop?"

James, our leader for the day, was really nice to tell me about some stuff that may come in handy to us international students. =)
And Mary, our teammate turned out to be really nice and told me to go bud-picking, LOL, something I took a long time to figure out what it meant.

Lizzy was on the other side of the block cleaning another area of the park with our ride leader, Alexis.

Well, we worked hard, and long.
So by the end of the day we're exhausted and I'm sunburnt again.
Here are us in the room:Well there should not be much difference, or at least I can't see it. LOL. But we're sure tired.

Then Siew Ooi was supposed to arrive in the morn, but none of us saw her anywhere (Mary & SweeMun in the dorm, Lizzy & Me in the park).
So Lizzy decided that we should go ask the lady who's in-charge of the dorms if Siew Ooi has arrived and checked-in a room.
Then the lady, Margie, who was extremely friendly and nice, told us that she has arrived, but not checked-in yet, so she suggested that we wait for her for the next bus coming in from the park, so we decided to try our luck waiting.

Lizzy was so tired.
So was I (I know the photos doesn't show the exhaution LOL).

Not long after that the bus arrived at the dorm, and guess what? Siew Ooi really took that bus and here she comes!
Then after some hassle we decided to move altogether into another side of the company housing called the apartment. It's cheaper, the room is more spacious, it has a kitchen and fridge, the only downside is that the 16 people has to share 2 bathrooms.
We're living in with some Malaysians and Singaporeans and Chinese who are studying in Singapore, and 2 Americans who will be working together with us. Yay!

Turning up at 'work'

We had training today! Ok, it's very boring. But at least we're getting paid tomorrow for sweeping the park. *force smile*

We're now experiencing jet lag. LOL despite the amount of sleep we've got.
Lucky thing we havent started working yet.

Anyways... Here are some picture updates.
#1: Post dated photo from Japan, don't have the toilet bowl, but we have the toilet!

#2: Here's a picture of how our room looks like.

#3: It's so freezing cold here, it's like 16'C here in the daytime. And the breeze is crazy! And you call this summer... Sigh. When some locals are walking around in sleeveless tops and shorts, our friend, Lizzy here is going about in gloves and plan to wear long johns to work tomorrow!

#4: This is a picture of SweeMun's lunch, not at all supersized meal or awesome taste, but it's what we're going to have for a very long time.

#5: Here's somewhere near the park. Pretty view of the lake.

#6: We've got our name tags! They have this little line below the names which writes the number of seasons the person has worked in the park.

#7: Just in case you're wondering how madly cold I was like. XP

Of Toilet Bowls

The trip to Japan Airport was not all so exciting
For walking about in a limited compound for 10 hours isn't very adrenaline stimulating I dare say.
But one thing I love most is going to the loo. LOL
Those who have been to Japan or have read about it must have known the ingenious advanced technology of toilet bowls.

The other 3 girls either dare not try it, or thought I was crazy.
But the toilet bowls which have buttons to make long irritating flushing noise to cover the sound of your poop dropping into the water, sprinkle your butt with water or........ you name it, they've got it. LOL

I proudly tell you I fully utilized it many times during my wait in Narita Airport.

----- -----

The time has finally came for us to board the train to the United States.
Sitting on my left was this Japanese uncle who looked like Mafia and spoke like one too. Because of him I dare not get up to excuse myself to the toilet too many times for I fear..... hahahaha
Sitting on my right was this Korean auntie. First impression? Rude. Her elbow and knee and leg is always over my seat and kept on moving here and there.
But since I didn't have much sleep before, I dozed off into deep sleep about 5 minutes after boarding the plane, even before the plane took off.

Anyways, I woke up when dinner was served and ate quite a bit, for I thought I should take in more of the zeitgeber and reset my SCN so I don't get jetlag. And the auntie beside me told me in Korean that I can eat a lot (she literally meant I ate all of it) even after so much sleep. @@

Anyways, after helping her clear some confusions on how to fill in the arrival form in my very broken Korean (lucky thing we could understand each other), she mumbled something and I couldn't understand but figured out that she might have said, "China?" after we left the plane.
LOL She must have thought I am from China.

----- -----

Here I am, now in Cedar Point, after taking a cab from the airport.
Gawd the cab fare costed about twice the price we expected but sigh... such is life?
We're settled in the dorm and the weather is freezing cold with the broken heater in our room.
Going to 'report' ourselves at the HR department first thing in the morning tomorrow.
Oh, and the time is exactly 12 hours behind Malaysia, which makes now 11.55am Sunday, May 03.

Though not tired, gotta catch more sleep so I'll have energy to work all day tomorrow. =)
Night!

Blogging Free from Narita

Hey everyone!
At last I"m on my way to achieving one of my many adventures!
currently in Narita Airport, Japan (10 whole hours) waiting for transitting flight.
Flying can be such a pain but it"s gonna all worth it!

The plane that we took were almost empty.
And the stewardess and airplane crew were talking to us in Japanese like ALL THE TIME and don"t get it when we show the blur face.

We"re here blogging free in this Yahoo! cafe in the airport
with funny keyboards therefore explaining the weird punctuations I"m using here as it"s almost impossible to allocate the aprostophe!
And this paragraph which usually takes less than a minute to type is taking up so much time but it"s all really cool I tell you!

SweeMun is sleeping soundly on the bench while Lizzy is just awake.
Mary couldn"t fall asleep on the bench with people watching and I couldn"t trust people enough to goi to sleep with my bags hanging around the place.

Anyways, this is just an update to tell you that I"m fine, teh flu is gone, and my keyboard-automated fingers kept typing on the usually-right-but-with-this-japanized-keyboard-all-wrong keys!

Worry not, I shall update pictures (which are not many) when i can online with my own laptop.
Till then, sayornara!

고맙다

I've known that people care
but the showering of calls and sms-es are really...
=)
Thanks everyone. I'll have a safe but not boring adventure!

여러분 걱정하지 마세요~
제가 잘 다녀올 게요!
Mum Dad & Jo went to Klang for BakKutTeh with cousins and aunt.
I stayed at home to pack and laze around...

We had breakfast.
I felt my face muscle twitched. It was unusual.
My eyes closed uncontrollably and there was this bad feeling inside of me.
Anyways, it didn't took long until I see white sparks on both eyes,
so bad I cannot continue eating or even hold the bread any longer.
"I'll eat later," I whispered.
I wanted to walk away but just couldn't even lift up my head.
I know I'm going to faint.
Gramps, the boy and aunt stared for a few seconds and aunt brought me to the hall to lie down.

It's been years since I had episodes like this on the first day of period.
Cold palms and feet, sweating, curled up in pain, near-faint (but never cuz I always go to sleep), vomiting air LOL.

Once it happened in school I squatted in the middle of the corridor and some people stared.
One friend brought me warm Milo while another warned me about getting some serious disease which symptoms were cold sweat. *sweat*

Back to today's episode, it really got everyone very worried.
Felt so sorry, felt so thankful.
I've never received that much attention and care during the past episodes, cuz it's always the maid and me...

Grandma told me some girls faint by the roadside.
I guess I'm glad that I always have it at home.

On a happier note, I'm leaving.
On an adventure. =)
